Screenwriting : What's your genre? by Paul Zeidman

Paul Zeidman

What's your genre?

Always interesting to see what kind of stories other writers like to write.

Me, I'm pretty keen on adventure, which allows me to work in a wide variety of other genres (fantasy, western, sci-fi, etc), and have most recently been giving comedy a try.

How about you?

Dan Guardino

I have written in a lot of different ones but crime is my favorite to write in.

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

I try to write all genres with equal energy. However, comedy seems to come the easiest for me.

Izzibella Beau

I write mainly drama for the teen to young adult audience. I tend to favor writing based on books, like my own. I can't do comedy unless it's the rude comedy scene. I also can write paranormal, like the vampire/shifters/witches genre.

Shanika Freeman

I love writing drama, science fiction, fantasy and thrillers.

Peter Roach

Sci-fi. Can't do romance, just ask the women in my life.

Levada McHenry

I like to write experimental, I'll try writing anything once, know matter how crazy the writing might turn out....might have a good laugh after-all.

Doug Nelson

Paranormal/comedy/drama is my general comfort zone but I also like coming of tales too.

Lisa Vandiver

Fantasy, horror, sci fi

Michael L. Burris

Global Adventure for movies, sitcom/romcom for television and any product on earth commercially.

Hell I'd find a way to sell the planet to aliens if they ever come back but then there would be the conundrum of what to do with all the money in the world and a spaceship.

New Movie Title:

All the money in the world & a spaceship.

Anthony Moore

Action/adventure, Sci-fi, and oddly enough Thrillers. Growing up I never liked 'Thrillers' but somehow I seem to place and win more contests with them.

Dan MaxXx

B action popcorn movies with lots of guns, explosions, high body count, tough women, quirky villains.

Shara Maude

Oh, I'm all over the map. Historical fiction, urban fantasy/paranormal, epic fantasy and now I' thinking of writing a weird thriller/suspense thing based on a book I was going to write for a publisher submission call.

Holly Lancaster

Comedy! I love it because, well, it makes me happy, but also because it has a ton of sub-genres (rom-com, dramedy, bromance, family comedy, etc.).

A'isha Saleh

I've been obsessed with the show Black Mirror for a while now, and that futuristic Dystopian genre that presents a very clear commentary on society today is something that has really caught my attention, so I like exploring that realm in stories right now.

Kevin Carothers

Bizarre sci-FYI.think BoJack Horseman Meets Stargate. Neil Gaiman meets The Last Crusade. Primer meets Trailer Park Boys..

Also dabble in mythology. Won some screen festivals and got a consider or two. Maybe one of these years.

I’m a believer in making my own genre.

Philip Singh

Action, adventure, fantasy. I love switching it up a little bit. But I love writing a good ole action film or series.

James Hoey

We write sci fi, fantasy, supernatural, drama, horror, family. Really the one thing we will not jump into is full-on comedy, like a sitcom or comedy genre feature. Just isn't in us. We aren't comics, we don't have that 'oomph' to churn out non-stop comedic appeal in a script. We can do a funny moment here and there, a snappy quip, but we know our limits.

Dafne Papadopoulou

I started writing dramas, I thought it would be easier, I was still learning and I can say for sure that it wasn't so easy but I find writing comedies even harder. It challenges me so now I'm focusing on a black comedy I'm writing.

Shawn Speake

Action. Great to see you, Paul!

Kimmie Easley

Comedy, Drama, and Suspense. Much luck on all upcoming and current projects!
