Have you accomplished any screenwriting goals or aspirations in 2018?

As we approach the home stretch of 2018, I say it's time to begin evaluating our screenwriting accomplishments for the year. I've had some wonderful highs and disappointing lows; but it's been a very good year for me for making connections and competing on the film festival circuit.

What say you? Have you been kicking ass and taking names?

Have you done the following?

1. Written one or more screenplays?

2. Have you entered, placed or won any screenplay contests?

3. Have you entered, placed or won any film festivals?

4. Have you sent out query letters to producers, agents or managers?

5. Have you had any response or received requests for your scripts?

6. Have you worked on any short films?

7. Have you connected with producers and had work optioned or signed write to shop agreements?

8. Have you made a feature film or are you in the process of doing so?

9. What about something else I missed?

Go ahead, brag on yourself.

Anthony Moore

Been kicking ass but haven't gotten many names. My 2018 punch list:

Wrote 3 screenplays (2 Features, 1 TV pilot)

Won 2 screenwriting contests (Possible career jump-start)

Sent out 50 query letters (One lukewarm request)

Built a new PC to use to animate one of my shorts

All in all, I've been pretty productive this year. And hopefully I'll make a sale or obtain an agent or manger at the Pitchfest I plan on attending.next year.

2. Entered - don't yet know.

3 Two entered - status unknown

4. No - I am the Producer.

5. No - I don't send them out.

6. Yes - a couple.

7. No - I'm retired.

8. No - not interested in FL films.

9. I've shifted more into television production... a documentary series, a comedy series and some live stage (music) programs and a couple of Automobile adverts. I guess it hasn't yet dawned on me that I'm retired.

Doug, you're an inspiration.

On the process of writing a third screenplay

Dan Guardino

I had a producer I know call me because he was interested in one of my screenplays I didn't want to sell so we decided to team up and produce it ourselves. The other day I asked Judy Norton if she would be interested in playing a lawyer in the movie and she said yes.

I am adapting the novel A Cry of Shadows about a single-minded professor in his determination to prove his theory that one can discover the moment that the life force leaves the body on humans.

Patricia Poulos

Wow Dan Guardino how absolutely exciting on all counts.

Claudia Najjar

I finished writting a 30 episodes of anime children/adult fairytale forgotten story. Now some people are looking at it for production.
