Filmmaking / Directing : Pre Festival Premiere Screening of my Feature by Geoff Woodbridge

Pre Festival Premiere Screening of my Feature

After nearly 3 years working on this damn thing, i am finally in a position to screen to the world! I have found this journey incredible. Some real massive highs, but also, i am so disappointed at the lack of support, not only financially, but other local filmmakers.

The final version is not perfect, and it never would be as it has been made on peanuts, but it is complete, it is entertaining, heartwarming, joyous and inspiring. It gives a solid message and really is like no other film i have ever seen. A two character piece, with musical interludes. Its main narrative being homelessness, child abuse and mental illness, see mostly through the eyes of a cineaste.

I am proud of what i have achieved and it was a pleasure working with two very inspiring actors. The musical score and sound track is also incredible.

But i am so nervous about letting people see this. It opens up my mind, my vision and creativity and maybe so much more than i want people to see and i'm expecting most people to be kind and say, 'you've done a great job', but really think this thing is dreadful and you know i'll be able to see that in their eyes. Am i ready for this? How do other filmmakers cope?

Anyway, just adding these words here to find some comfort maybe from like minded creatives.

Congrats! 3 years is nothing! That is short Time.

The happiest day of my film life was the first day of production, a feature. i made fantasy into reality. Cast & crew on location, trucks, crafts service table.

The worst day of my film life was the 2nd day of production! Ha! I didn’t know what the fuck I was doing!

Anyway, march forward. Accept the criticism and remember it’s a privilege to make movies.

Thanks Owen and Dan. Really appreciate your comments and you are both dead right. It is just such a huge mind game at the moment. Maybe after the screening i might feel better. I've submitted to a few festivals but still awaiting confirmation back and that also is driving me nuts.
