I'm Al Carretta. I am one of the UK's most prolific no-budget indie feature directors and the organiser of the Nightpiece Film Festival in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. I'm looking to broaden my network and share my experience as it's hit the point where my skillset really is unique. I work with complete creative control across multiple genres and disciplines. The film game has changed enormously in the past 8 years and for the past 5 I've established Nightpiece in the World's Largest Arts Festival, EdFringe.

I can take almost any concept from idea to distribution (the distro game really has changed) but I'm still doing all this on absolute peanuts! No crowdfunding, no external financial support, just a massive drive to take my ideas from stage to screen.
Total spend across my output that includes 13 features, 19 shorts, 3 EdFringe stage plays and 5 years of the Nightpiece Film Festival has been around £30k - literally nothing. I make films as templates to experiment with style and genre. If you've got something truly amazing it's had a lo-cost start point and a history to build on. When it's time to find money it's out there but when you can flip something on £1k and take it to first round commercial distribution in a click you must have some idea of what you're doing and on this level the prerogative is still simply getting your work seen by an audience.
