We're Heading to the Austin Film Festival!

I'm super excited to be heading to the Austin Film Festival with RB and Nick next week! It's one of the few times we get to meet you in person and completely immerse ourselves in screenwriting for a few days filled with Panels, Pitching Competitions, Parties, Networking, and tons of fun.

If you are going to be at the festival, be sure to drop by and say hi in the exhibition hall Thursday, Friday or Saturday so we can put names to faces and get to know you better. We'll also have some promos and RB's book, Crowdsourcing for Filmmakers, available to buy at the table (get RB to sign it!).

At night you can find us at the Driskill bar or one of the festival events or parties. Speaking of parties, Stage 32 is hosting our 6th Annual AFF Meetup on the Handlebar Austin rooftop that Friday night and anyone in the area is invited - no festival badge necessary! Link to the meetup below:

No drinking and no talking to strangers. Wrap yourselves in bubble wrap.

Bo. R. R. Tolkien

I like watching new movies but don't like watching it with other people. So I never go to movie theaters. But I would like to experience a film festival with all the amenities just to educate myself in the business first hand. I take it that at these festivals, it's like a fashion show, where potential buyers view the product and bid on it. I just don't like producers, or buyers, telling the artist how their creation should be altered or modified or changed. I"m very adamant on the artist's original vision being honored throughout the journey.

Bo. R. R. Tolkien - some festivals are more about showing new films to potential buyers. Austin does have a bit of that, but the first few days are largely focused on writers coming out to network and learn. It's a bit different in that way and much more fun for writers IMO!
