Title page - contact info no-no?

A former client of mine sent me her script and has her contact info and WGA # on the front page. If I remember correctly, I heard it said that it was a no-no and the sign of an amateur. Is that true? Thanks in advance.

Steve Cleary

Crud, the standards are always changing!

Peter Roach

I read that also. But then again I read another article stating that WGA# is OK on the title page.

So I am confused also.

Imo Wimana Chadband

Being new to the industry I'm very much interested in this info. I don't want to make an amateur mistake when sending my scripts to someone

Craig D Griffiths

I think the WGA number is a little amateur, but I am not famous enough for the world to know my email.

Dan MaxXx

Contact info - YES

WGA # - NO

Agent/Rep info - BEST

Brian Shell

Dan, of course you'd have the best answer, first. No surprise. Thank you. And thanks to all for chirping in. Just got back from feeding the birds on my lake - chirp, chirp.

Beth Fox Heisinger

If helpful, Brian, I put only the title, written by, and my email address on the title page. That’s it. ;)

Craig D Griffiths

Dan MaxXx if they still exist lol

Brian Shell

Appreciate the input/info y'all... I passed it along to her. She's being repped by Ramo Law... with whom she connected via S32... fyi

John & Jamie

If she's using a packaging firm (like Ramo), then the WGA # or LOC # may be at their request for record keeping, just an FYI. Generally, if you send out a query and get a request, follow the above. But WGA #s being on something in-house is not really unheard of. It won't be on anything past development copies but it could be that one of them basically said "hey, you've registered this right. Can you throw the number on the cover page/title page?"

Dan Guardino

I have never put the registration number on the cover or anywhere else. If they are interested in optioning or purchasing it they will ask me when I registered it.

Brian Shell

Thanks Dan. Gratzi John & Jamie. I forwarded your replies to her. She retired with her husband in northern Michigan... it's their 30 year love story with a structure similar to The Notebook and Bridges of Madison County

Danny Manus

You do NOT need your WGA Registration # on it. It is amateurish. Just your Phone number and email is enough. If its based on some IP or Based on/Inspired By a true stort, that should be on there too.

Brian Shell

So Danny, being that it's her life's love story that took 30 years to manifest, should she put "Based on a true story" underneath her title on the title page? I think she has the atop Page 1 below "Fade In"

Danny Manus

Yes! She should put it below "Written By and her name". Id skip a few lines and put Based on a True Story there. Definitely not after Fade In.
