Short script competition.

Hei everyone. Hope you're well.

It's my first time writing a story here so don't judge me.

I want to share one of my experience here. It's about one of the competition for a short screenplay.

One day I got an e-mail about XR-Alliance competition. First heard of it, but I check it out. It was a free entry competition for a short script. I thought that's great. It's free! I still had time for about two months till the date so I saved that mail for later.

Two months went by fast and I finally took the time to look into that competition. I read it through it once again. I stopped at a short script and thought about it for a moment. It was a competition for a short script, and what I got was a few feature-length screenplays. My problem was I didn't know how to write a short script. I got a full head of ideas but to put those on ten pages? No chance.

I said to myself lets write something, its free. I got nothing to lose. I took one of my feature scripts and look through it again. I made a list of the most important scenes and copy them to another list. I start cutting them until I got a ten-page of scenes. I went through it a few times to make those to look more like a story from beginning to an end. It worked. I changed a few things to make it less complicated and I got it. My first short script. I fix it and send it to the competition. No expectations. I would be happy with a comment about it.

Months went by and I almost forgot about the competition when one morning I got an e-mail from it. I opened it and it was a list of quarterfinalist. I thought "okay let's see who got in." And there it was My script next to my name. I couldn't believe it. That was the first time I achieved something good in my career as a screenwriter and it took me a day to make it. I am happy I took that chance and made it.

That's my story. I learned that we need to take every chance we got. You never know what may come from it. But you really got nothing to lose. You can't lose anything with trying. Believe in yourself I know you can do it.
