Introduce Yourself : If you want to leave a mark in this world you have to make one. by Earl Martin

Earl Martin

If you want to leave a mark in this world you have to make one.

I got started in filmmaking late. I started about 6 years ago shooting Dorito ads for the Crash the Super Bowl contest. I'm now 54. Since then I've shot several shorts. We sometimes wonder if what we're doing ever gets seen. Well, last April, 5 years after the 2nd ad I shot, it went viral! It went from 1,000 views to now almost 5 million! Crazy. Last November I shot a goofy comedy/horror short because I had access to a great location. One year later it's now getting into festivals and opened for the Addams Family movie at the Towne Cinema in my home town! This weekend it's up for best short at another festival. You just never know what's going to happen with your stuff. But what I do know is this. If you don't make stuff, it definitely won't get seen. Go shoot something. NOW!

I love this so much! Yes!!!! This is what it is all about. The long game. Congratulations Earl. I'm in the same boat as you, finally got to all of this much later in life. I hope people read your post and realize that it is never too late, and good things can happen at any time. Even if they're years down the road.
