The Hunt For The Next James Bond

Good question. Personally, I'm sad to see Daniel Craig go. He's done so well for this character, although the writing has seldom been on the same level as his acting. I hope the Bond producers will a choose a young actor (in his late 20's or early 30's), who isn't too well known, but who can really act, is very fit, has major charisma and gravitas. The Brits are the best actors, so I hope they'll choose a Brit for Bond. Again.

Who will be the next James Bond?
Who will be the next James Bond?
Daniel Craig's time as James Bond is over and producer Barbara Broccoli has confirmed a 'reinvention' is underway. So who's next to step into 007's shoes?
Tom Batha

And the winner is... Idris Elba.

I don't think so, Dash. He's too old. The Bond producers need / want a young bloke for 007, so they can get +10-15 years of mileage out of him. However, Idris would make a great Bond villain.

Black James Bond? No, not next decade. Maybe 2030.

Craig was 37 years old when he got the Bond gig.

So who’s white, Brit, and somewhat famous?

Maybe Tom Hardy. He’s been mentioned often as the next JB. And he’s like 40,41 years old.

My money is still on a young British guy, early 30s tops. Robert Pattinson would've been a contender, but he's the next Batman. 40 years is too old. Remember the mileage question.

Bill Costantini

Hi Agent Nurmi,

Without a doubt....Benedict Cumberbatch would make a simply smashing James Bond.

My favorite James Bond film is actually the spoof film, Casino Royale, from 1967. David Nivens was a great James Bond in that hilarious film. And what a cast!

Best fortunes in your undercover endeavors, Juhani!

Ha-ha! Your encouraging and kind words are always cordially welcome, brother Bill! :-)

Craig D Griffiths

Bond is 38 in the Novels. Plus he is Commander Bond. So he can’t be a kid. He has to be able to raise through the Navel ranks.

I too believe Idris is an obvious choice. He can play a mentally broken man well, as well as someone that is hard and ruthless.

But they will find someone.

Debbie Croysdale

I’m with @Craig. Why inject “Agism” into Bond, where it never existed in the first place in Novel? Also as @Dan Max mentioned Daniel Craig was already 37 when he landed the role. Next Bond film should be crafted and executed for a new original story with already established core themes and traits that go with Brand Bond. I have read reports where some see Bond films as part of their heritage as films have been going on for some sixty years or so. Why bow down to Hollywood agism? What next? They only audition Size Zero actresses? The Bond institution has lasted its course because of “Character” not the trend of the decade. Happy Sunday All!
