Introduce Yourself : William Gunn by William Gunn

I've noticed a trend among a few writers. They've written "Vanity" screenplays based on existing properties starring themselves as the Protagonist. This is a real shame. It's keeping with Hollywood's Obsession with remaking Movie after Movie and not creating something Fresh and New. Retreads get very old! There are other ideas out there besides those that were done by better writers decades ago! It's a pity that Hollywood has gotten caught up in so much obvious lack of vision. Allow New Ideas to Come to the Forefront! Don't play it safe anymore. William Gunn

And if anyone thinks this is a request for my screenplays to be read, I'm sorry. I'm afraid that turns out not to be the case. It would be nice, of course, but I'm 67 and it never happens so be it! I've had and continue to have a fabulous life. I'm totally satisfied with my life in fact. A produced screenplay would be a very small cherry on top of a very tasty cake!

I feel the same way - Trying to "invent" anything in this days light - Something fresh and original... is work! That's a fact - And when one has, what they believe, to be an idea - It's again a extreamly difficult task to get the right people and money to believe it. They've heard it all before.... I have written a story which I have a dear friend who believes in my story enough to commit to writing it into a script. In the mean time, I took two years, along with my daughter, to write it out into a book - Where I'm now faced with attempting to have, who I'm hoping, them read the books manuscrpt and push it along the appropriate channel to publish... So, if it were that easy - Everyone would be doing it! I'm by no means sayin' "don't do it!" But, pushing yourself out there enough and have cultivated some strong trustworthy friends/family to aid and confide in... All I can do is Hope and be Grateful!!! Take care and thank you for the friendship!!!

Kelly ps: please excuse any typos - I have large thumbs... lol
