Anything Goes : James Bond is a coward. by James David Sullivan

James David Sullivan

James Bond is a coward.

James Bond can take on Dr. No, Goldfinger, Blofeld, etc., but when it comes to the corona virus, he runs like a scared rat! Theatrical opening of "No Time to Die" has been postponed again with the latest date being in November 2020.

More than 1,000 people die in the US on an average day from heart disease.

More than 500 people die in the US on an average day from cancer.

About 36,000 people die every year in the US from influenza.

Yet, we have gone into a worldwide panic over corona virus.

Oh, please!

When even James Bond turns tail and runs, fear has taken control.

God help us all. James Bond is unavailable until at least November....

Yeah you're right @James, I don't fear Coronavirus any more than flu or being hit by a car. Hysteria is now Epoch in UK and they even postponed London Screenwriting Festival London. The thing is most people that get coronavirus live but it obviously damages weakened immune system, yet so does ordinary flu. My Great Grandad survived Polio before any vaccine and luckily a vaccine has been available for many years now. TWO main concerns however with coronavirus, no vaccine and sinister fear it stems from animals. I was in London last week and stopped using public transport, not from fear of virus but everyone was spraying anti bacterial chemicals near me. My chest started to wheeze from fumes and I told person next to me I didn't want lung cancer. We need Doctor Scaramanga and his malicious Persian Cat to put Bond back where he should be! Come on Bond, don't be a pussy.

I totally “RESPECT” the danger of coronavirus and genuinely fear/feel for folk who succumb but its the instilled “forced by media” panic I don’t respect. The panic is bizarre considering well over a Thousand died of flu UK last season and so far Thirty Five deaths from Coronavirus. We have folk attacking each other for toilet roll, lockdown in a few weeks forecasted and soon the Army will be responsible for stocking supermarket shelves. In a space of a few weeks we have Armageddon type fear. Annually global peak records for flu can kill 650,000 and to date coronavirus worldwide has caused 6,400. There is no vaccine for either yet the panic for the latter is now Epoch. The panic is an entity in itself, that is causing problems, aside from any damage a virus can do. There have even been cases of racism against Chinese subjects in UK, behaviour totally non acceptable in todays world. I hope scientists get the breakthrough vaccine before whole world goes to pot.

I see it as a wonderful excuse to hang out the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on my studio door so that I can retrete and get some writing done.

Yeah @Tony I did make that comment BEFORE this happened but at that time according to World Records there was no abnormal threat. (Other than usual virus attacks winter). Nobody told us over the pond it was a “Cross Pollination” Virus of Human/Animal. Only recently did we learn from British intelligence reports that China underplayed the numbers who died in Wuhan. Only recently did we see photographs of boiled alive dogs and bat lollipops on sticks eaten in the wet markets where this virus emerged. I understand the threat of viruses more than most because I have family who were/are Medics but this virus has MORPHED from regular virus to super virus. I did not know this at time of comment. We will not be without a Prime Minister, Boris will pull through, he has to.

Hi @Tony I never compared Covid 19 with flu because I was told in March this year a flu like virus was in Europe and may make its way to Uk. It was not made clear to anybody over the pond, it was a different strain of winter virus, to that which we already familiar with. This virus has morphed from virus as we know it, its JUMPED SHIP from animal to human and its deadly because we never in our life time came across it before. It is a shame London and USA did not go into lockdown December but how were we to know? Nobody told us till two weeks ago.

@Damien Thanks for the share. Graph a grim picture of how this virus is now third biggest killer. Now there's a dread that since the time and date it was published, corona has jumped to number one. I feel a lot of anger that the doctor who first tried to warn the world about this on December 30th, was hushed up by powers that be China. Dr Li Wenliang messaged some people that 7 patients had died in Wuhan from new "hybrid" virus and it was traceable to a sea food market, only to be detained and quietened. He has since died of the virus himself aged 34, after receiving an apology, that he was in fact correct. Since December it has been able to spread via international travel and person to person, aswell as touch and its soul destroying we were unaware this was happening at the time.
