Screenwriting : Getting back to my desk. by Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

Getting back to my desk.

A little over six weeks ago, I had four-way heart bypass surgery. I also contracted the flu while spending ten days in the hospital. Needless to say, building up my energy and healing up from my chest and leg wounds is a slow process. However, I felt well enough to polish up one of my older screenplays over the past few days. I've written a lot of scripts but I always enjoy revisiting a work after a long period of time. As far as I'm concerned, screenplays are never finished until they're made into a film. Next week, I might be ready to tackle a new script I began a few months back.

What are you working on during the stay at home thang? Are you feeling creative?

Phil Parker

Great to see you back in the saddle, mate. What a thing to go through. May your pages flow like a river as they did before.

Wayne Jarman

Welcome back! Sorry to hear your health news. Take it easy and be kind to yourself during your recovery ...and, by all means, write. All the best.

Craig D Griffiths

The stick is very fetching. Makes you look very dapper.

I have two things I am putting to bed from a solid draft point of view.

I am looking at all my cinema gear and feeling guilty.

I now know I am full of crap when I say, “If only I had more time at home”.

Dan MaxXx

Mister Phil, I'm rooting for you (and my 3% commission)! Cheers from ground zero - NYC

Eric Christopherson

A hospital is a great place for getting better and getting sicker at the same time. Best of luck in your recovery, Phillip. Me, when I'm not home-schooling my kindergartener and third grader, I'm working on my first murder mystery spec.

Lauran Childs

Glad to hear you are feeling better. I’m finishing off an animation script about cats, aliens and a female president.

Dan M; 3 percent? I'm not that cheap. 3.5 percent for you, buddy.

WL Wright

Cheers to you for getting back to it! Wow, very cool, what a dynamo!

Dan Guardino

Phillip. It is great to see you back and hear that you are recovering. Take care!!!

Thom Reese

Welcome back. Glad you're doing well.

Jim Boston

Phillip, so VERY GLAD to hear from you again...and that you're back to writing and polishing up scripts!

I'm two-thirds of the way done with "Bleeding Gums," about a math teacher at an all-girls' Catholic high school here in Omaha wanting to fill a void in her school's activities by forming its very first jazz band.

Last month, I dug up a screenplay I started in the summer of 1985...but got cold feet about finishing: "Got Any More Bullets, Sister?"

That one's a gangster spoof where two siblings working as vendors in 1930 Cleveland seek to better their lives...but while one vendor wants to become a musician, her sister chooses a life of crime. (Working to get that one finished this weekend!)

Hoping yours is a complete recovery...and if it's a speedy one, that'll be great.

All the VERY BEST to you, Phillip!

Brian Walsh

Hey Phillip! Welcome back. Glad you're on the mend. Cheers, my friend.

Philip Sedgwick

Hey Amigo, So pleased to see you back... Stage32's literary Lazarus. Wishing you well and sending you healing thoughts for continued recovery and more orneriness that ever!

Doug Nelson

Glad to hear of your return. Here's wishing you all the best for a speedy and complete recovery.

What I'm working on? I'm remodeling the master bath from the bare studs up and I'm starting my Independent Filmmaker's Showcase cable show up again, Hopefully I can get some worthy shorts from S32 folk this time.
