How a Filmmaker Crowd-Funded His Way to an Oscar

Hello Fund-Seekers,

I had posted this a while back in the Animation section, and Karen E. Ross suggested that I post it here - it's pretty inspiring for those who are seeking to raise funds for their works via Crowd Funding.

Hair Love is the animated short film that won the 2020 Oscar.  It was made as a result of a 2017 Crowd-Funding campaign on Kickstarter.  The filmmaker, Matthew A. Cherry, was originally seeking around 75K, and ended up raising $285K.  Here is a link to the original Kickstarter campaign by Mr. Cherry, and also the link to the film.  It's a beautiful story, and also a great story behind the beautiful story.

Stay safe, and best fortunes in your creative and fundraising endeavors, all!
