Introduce Yourself : Luckily you don't need to shake hands on the internet by Leonarda Van Der Ark

Luckily you don't need to shake hands on the internet

Introducing yourself has been strange these past months: you either go for a handshake, but remember you can't, or you end up going for a full curtsy (I managed that several times).

Either way: written introductions have always been a lot easier for me.

My name is Leonarda, a journalist/screenwriter/bookseller from The Netherlands. I picked up screenwriting a little over 3 years ago and have thus far written two pilots and one feature. One of those pilots, a historic drama about the aftermath of the death of King Henry VIII, made it to the second round at the Austin Film Festival last year.

I hope I'll be able to connect with more creatives around the world through Stage32.

Maybe the cultures that use bowing as a form of greeting were on to something. LOL. I only hope that "air fist bumps" and "air high fives" don't get out of hand.

Karen "Kay" Ross

Hey, Leonarda Van Der Ark! My name is Kay, I'm the Community Manager here at Stage32. Nice to meet you! Wow, good work on landing those curtsies! Actually, I could see that trend taking off LOL! Dude... I could use your eyes to help me recraft my bio - I HATE introducing myself. I do the work well, but I do not sell myself well.

Definitely reach out and join the conversations in the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting), but consider getting perspectives from filmmakers and producers in the Filmmaking Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing) and Producing Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/producing).

If you'd like more information about how to explore the Lounges to meet more members and network, please enjoy my most recent blog post:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect!
