Comics and Animation Writer, Documentary Producer, IP Development says

Hello, everyone! Nice to meet you all.

My name is Paul, and my background is children’s entertainment, where I've been blessed to have some wonderful opportunities and experiences  through the years. I wrote and edited comic books for the likes of Archie, DC and several others. I also scripted YouTube short-form animated series for Mattel Toys, featuring Thomas the train, and have written the pilot episode and theme song to an animated series in development.

I’m also involved in film history endeavors, including speaking at classic movie screenings, contributing an essay to a book on the films of Vincent Price, being an Executive Producer on an upcoming documentary film on the Dead End Kids and Bowery Boys, and writing the upcoming book, “Scared Silly: Classic Hollywood Horror-Comedies.”

I’m relatively new to Stage 32 and looking forward to being edified by the webinars offered here. My current goal is to contribute short-form story content for a variety of clients, or if the opportunity arises, to move into IP development full-time. I truly love story and concept ideation, character development, and world building. Stage 32 seems like a great resource to enhance my skills in those areas.

I also look forward to discovering more about all of you and your accomplishments, and most of all, learning from you!

All the best,

Paul

Hi Paul! As a fan (and sometims writer/director) of horror comedies, I'm definitely looking forward to your book? Are you allowed to share a little bit more about it? Will be a guide, or more of a narrative history on how/why those genres which often seem in opposition to each other actually pair quite well? Or maybe it's something completely different? Nice to meet you!

Vincent - I want to see, "Stand Tall!" I think it would be brilliant done in animation. The question to ask is, do you want to tell one story in one film, or an open-ended grouping of episodic stories? My gut says you could get a nice streaming series out of it. Brian - I'm reviewing films from the silent era through the mid-1960s. I'm actually blogging my way through it - been writing it since 2009 as a hobby project so it's often on the back-burner - so I post all the reviews in unedited form. I've got a long way to go! Not sure if I'm allowed to share the link, but I'm sure you can find it if you search for it. The book will primarily be a compendium of reviews, with some backstory on how it all evolved, calling out that fine psychological line between screaming and laughing, and tackling the problematic racist stereotypes that pepper some of the films. Thank you both for your comments, Vincent and Brian! Wishing you all the best!
