Austin Film Festival Screenplay Comp

Planning on submitting a feature I'm working on to the Austin Film Festival screenplay competition in 2021. I've read various reviews and for the most part they are positive, but the competition fierce. Anybody have any personally experience with the festival? Feel free to PM if you wish. Thank you in advance.

I submitted The Valley back in 2014. Didn’t win anything.

They give good notes regarding their thoughts. It is a tough comp, but doing well at the Olympics is far different than doing well at a family picnic.

Now that you have mentioned it. I do have a strange script I could enter.

David C. Velasco

Thank you Craig and Nick. Still have time to tighten my script. Thanks for the encouragement

Over the last 10 years, I've probably attended 50 film festivals. Austin Film Festival is the best festival for writers. Excellent classes and workshops. Some of the interviews are turned into episodes of On Story. Shows on PBS and here: https://www.onstory.tv/

Erick Freitas

I love Austin Film Festival. I've submitted, placed, and read for them. They are the really the best.

William Martell

That's one of the top Screenwriting Contests in the USA. One that producers and studios and agents and managers pay attention to.

Thank you Leo, Erik and William. The more I hear the more I get interested, even with long odds.

Good luck to you Lyter!

I read a book on it during a screenwriting challenge and watched on MPT.org
