From Skinny Fat to Super Hero - How Hugh Jackman Really Got Ripped for Wolverine

I think this Forum could use some more fun posts. This is part of a new series I'm doing I'm my vlog where I talk about acting body transformations for roles.

An in-depth look at how a skinny fat broadway actor built his body to a ripped super hero. Let's review the workout, diet and training that went into one of the most impressive celebrity acting body transformations ever. As seen in Xmen and the Wolverine Marvel Movies.

It’s actually interesting to watch his process through the franchise. It’s also good to see a superhero that didn’t go for “mass” but instead went for a more lean look.

Ian Buchanan Yes, he really did an amazing job and the fact that it literally took him years for the full transformation is even more impressive. I think his decision to go the super ripped lean look was amazing for the character. It's also harder to achieve for most people (so it looks more unique and iconic then just bulking up). It really gave him those crazy lines and made the action scenes really stand out (he looked fast and furious with the claws), if he just added mass... he would have appeared a bit stiffer and there would have been less differentiation between his limbs and their motion (the more mass you add, the more you start looking like a giant tank with less space between the arms and your body etc). By getting extremely lean he was able to emphasize the position and movement of his arms (which made the claws look even nastier when he was moving them quickly). I probably should have added that to my video, hahah. Too much to cover though. He really looks like a comic book super hero, he totally nailed it (eventually, being a fitness fanatic and actor myself - I was not a fan of his original look for the first X-men).

For my personal body, I look better with more mass, but that's because of my frame. I did a transformation where I starved off a lot of muscle and did a bunch of running... the result wasn't that impressive though. I may cover that in a different video as well. Of-course I'd adjust if I got a huge movie role, hahaah, but I look the best with my frame fully filled out (I'm not tall, so the super lean look doesn't cut the lines the same way as it does on Hugh Jackman for instance, I just look a lot weaker).. Love his transformation though, one of my all time favorites from any actor, ever.
