The film market is NOT filmmaker friendly.
Like every other aspect of the business you need allies but even then, there are no guarantees. I've had a taste of the "packaged deal" for a short film that I wound up self-distributing on Amazon and Vimeo.
Like everything else, you need allies who care and will stay diligent.
Filmmaker beware.
