Introduce Yourself : New to the 32! by Mike Zaldivar

New to the 32!

Hi All!

I'm new to stage 32. I'm a reality television editor who is looking to build his network, and help collaborate with new, interesting people! I've hit a wall creatively with reality television which is why I am in the process of writing and developing my own ideas. I want to write, direct and produce projects of mine, but would love to collaborate with anyone wanting to work together on things or just kick around ideas. Hit me up!

Karen "Kay" Ross

Hey, Mike Zaldivar! My name is Kay, I'm the Community Manager here at Stage 32. If you'd like to learn more about myself and the Stage32 Team, we have an intro blog: https://www.stage32.com/blog/Meet-the-Stage-32-Team Nice to meet you and welcome to the community!

DUDE, I can totally relate! I started my tv career in DC, which is mostly NatGeo and ID unscripted/recreation work, being groomed to be a PM and I knew I had to switch tracks fast if I was going to participate on the creative side.

If you're looking for more collaborators to "kick around ideas", one way could be to review members' loglines (https://www.stage32.com/loglines). When you leave the comment, if you like them or their concept, you can follow it up with an invite to have a Zoom coffee date. And, of course, don't forget to list your own loglines as well!

Otherwise, to mix and mingle with like-minded creatives, I would suggest for you the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting), the Filmmaking Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing), and the Producing Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/producing).

Keep in mind that these lounges are like the VIP Filmmaker's Lounges at Film Festivals, so this is where you can meet the people doing the work, get advice on anything you're working on, and/or give back to those who may need advice. We're a very supportive and encouraging community! I think you'd also enjoy my intro blog post on how to engage with the Stage32 Community:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect! And, of course, feel free to reach out at any time. Cheers!

Nice to meet you, Mike Zaldivar ! Stage 32 is a welcoming, supportive community of creatives. You can network in the various lounges and the blogs, which cover all the aspects of the industry. If you want to get a free month's membership to the Writers' Room, just email Jason Mirch, Director of Script Services, J.Mirch@Stage32.com. That's a great way to learn about screenwriting through Jason''s weekly webinars and the vault of past webinars. You can also practice pitching your projects and meet and connect with writers.

@Mike Hi welcome, reality seems to be more popular during pandemic for obvious reasons. I'm doing a zoom room feature and in middle of writing the script.
