Literary Agents for new screenwriters

Hi ,

I am a new screenwriter but i do have 3-4 good concepts that are fully developed into Pitch presentations along with the Story, Character arcs and Episodes.

Can anyone help me with Literary Agent contacts who could help me pitch my work to Producers and networks?

Thanks.

Christiane Lange

Have you written any of the actual scripts?

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your advice. I do have scripts and i believe they work well. Therefore, looking for an agent who could help me.

There are hundreds of free webinars and podcasts about agents & Managers, and what they do. (that's if you are chasing the Hollywood dollars).

This Manager, John Z, is active on twitter. He produced a studio movie out this week.

Hi Ruchika, It is difficult to find representation without a track record. I see you live in Mumbai. Isn't this the capital of Bollywood? Have you looked to see if there are agents willing to represent you in India who have strong connections with producers in both Bollywood and Hollywood?

Basically Agents negotiate deals.

If you don't already have a deal, a Manager would be a better idea.

Hi Ruchika, agents work for working clients. They definitely don't prefer to launch careers and are even hard-pressed to resurrect them. I've mentioned this before, but if an agent has the chance to woo, say, Ryan Gosling from another firm into theirs, bringing an added 3.2M into their agency's coffers versus trying to jumpstart a script by an unknown writer who is also unproduced, where do you think they are going to spend their time? It's unlikely they will bring your TV show property/feature film script to any table. You must get it to the table first with a studio's interest and perhaps they will negotiate it for you. But most likely not the first one, as 10% of your first deal won't buy them a backyard swing set. A manager or entertainment attorney is a much more attainable and reasonable goal via a referral to kickstart things off. If someone told you that you needed a Lit Agent, you might want to go back with some Cher attitude (ref: movie, "Mask") and smack the Nicholas Cage offender across the cheek, shouting lovingly, "Snap Out of It!"
