Happy Monday Producers!
Did you see this update about Netflix and Amblin partners signing a deal to produce multiple films for Netflix per year?
One year, Mr. Spielberg said that "Netflix films aren't Oscar worthy" - then, a short time later, has embraced the streamer as a production partner.
What do you think changed his mind?
How will this impact the viewers choice in streaming content available?
Will this affect your productions?
Just curious - and - looking forward to your thoughts below!
He made a business decision to chase money. It has no impact on me or my production ambitions.

Spielberg has made a decision to seek Oscar nominations, which Netflix had a lot of this year. It means a bigger legacy for him. Doesn't really effect us ordinary filmmakers.

It proves that even established film pros can misjudge the impact of new film mediums. We should all be careful of making hasty statements about any entity that helps filmmakers get their work to new audiences.
Spielberg's about to fleece NetFlix like Scorcese did.

Follow the money! They have the money. They'll let you make something and then put it out theatrically and, obviously, on Netflix.
Thank you everyone for sharing your insight !
