Hello,
Hope everyone is doing okay! I am currently in the midst of developing a Medical drama TV show and at the moment writing a treatment for season 1. I was wondering if there might be any writers or producers on here who may have worked on a medical drama series or film, who could give me some insights on their development process.
Thanks so much for your time!

subscribe to masterclass webinars. Shonda Rhimes shows the whole process, how she created Greys Anatomy, from paper idea to pitching to staffing to writing a series to production to notes/changes by network execs.
Rhimes says she leaves blank spaces on the page for real doctors/consultants to write the medical dialogue.

You're just in time, Vishaal Desai! There is an upcoming Drama Lab hosted by Anna Henry, who has developed dozens of shows. It's particularly fortunate since labs allow you to experience the class in real-time and receive feedback from the instructor: https://www.stage32.com/happy-writers/labs/Stage-32-Screenwriting-Lab-Wr... If you have any questions, feel free to email our director of education, Harrison: H.Glaser@stage32.com

If you've not been in the medical world yourself I'd recommend finding someone who has. Some of the stories they have honestly can't be made up and give the show authenticity.

Hey Vishaal - you might also check with Liz Dickler who has developed for ABC, Lionsgate, and a number of other companies. She developed the series "SCRUBS" - which I know is a more comedic take on the medical show - but she is very smart in developing Drama as well. You can find her here: https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/coverage/buy?id=57&genre=pilot&exec=1471&affid=scrnlounge
Dan MaxXx Thanks for that info! That's quite useful to know.

Ewan Dunbar Yes absolutely. One of the producers who hired me is a doctor himself and I have access to the medical community here.

Great to hear. Talking with them and reading books by medical practitioners is an amazing way to get insight. Books like "Do No Harm" are good and "This is going to Hurt" and "Blood, Sweat and Tea" will have you busting a gut laughing one minute, while making you so sad you want to cry the next.
Karen "Kay" Ross Jason Mirch Thanks for the links, I'll definitely check them out!
Ewan Dunbar Thanks so much for those suggestions!
