Next Netflix experiment to put you in charge of episode order

I love how Netflix tries to push the boundaries of TV storytelling. It's far from perfect, but it shows potential and brings new perspectives to the media. And this project, in particular, intrigues me a lot, especially with such a great cast. How do you feel about this?

Cool, adds a personal layer for audience. I thought of this concept after watching The Serpent cos although obviously non linear I felt juxtaposition of scenes not the best.

The long-awaited personally curated "director's cut?"

Christian Nommay

Who knows, Daniel Stuelpnagel. But your comment is quite interesting because few people know that the term "director's cut' was first used for Blade Runner. And that version wasn't even Ridley Scott's initiative, but it was made possible by a group of dedicated fans. And now, Netflix is giving its audience the possibility to make their own "director's cut" as you mention it.

Daniel Stuelpnagel

Christian Nommay well yes and I could see a modular stack of content / programming like a season of episodes being a social media obsession where viewers could share with friends as with a playlist,

it potentially makes a network, channel, show series or entire pipeline more "sticky" as both the curator and their audience would then spend a lot more time on there delving into and re-sharing that source material;

then I could also see there certainly being IP and creative ramifications but if there's money in it then it could materialize?

Karen "Kay" Ross

Wow - what a cool concept! I don't understand the appeal yet, but I'll read the article and get back to you LOL

Christian Nommay

Karen "Kay" Ross, I believe that in this age of great content consumption, people are looking more and more for the opportunity to participate, and not just standing there and watch. At least, when I'm part of the audience that's how I feel.

Choose your own adventure, I love it!

The thing that appeals to me is the idea of involving the community. For example, letting people recommend their own "Cuts" for episode orders to get a specific result. Reminds me of the first time I saw Pulp Fiction and my friend rearranged the scenes so I could see them "in order" and I was so confused. haha! What if you could take a series and rearrange the episodes to get a whole new emotional response?
