Acting : About me video by Ivan Doan

About me video

Hola, everybody. I posted my about-me video a couple moths ago in Introduce Yourself, but since the lovely Karen "Kay" Ross has suggested that I also post it here with some comments on its conception and production, here it is. On the idea: since languages and accents are one of my things, I thought it could be funny to play different characters in different languages. I think an about-me video should be entertaining yet to the point.... and, well, it should tell a story. I haven't seen many other about-me videos, but those I have watched were quite boring and not particularly creative. I mean this is showbiz, right? :) In terms of production, sorry, I'm old school and still use DSLR and video lighting for my self-tapes, so that's what I used to shoot it. After that some time playing around with the cut, and that's pretty much it. Hope this can be useful to you. Of course if you have questions, let me know. I'm kinda lazy and distracted - haven't been here for like 2 months - but I hope I'll improve and will react faster :)

LOL! That's okay - we kind of assume that people in this industry get busy and will pop in and out. I still adore this video - so fun and memorable! It's noteworthy that you edited it as well - that's impressive! Do you edit other things as well? Or just flex that skill when it's needed to help you as an actor?

Karen "Kay" Ross Usually I edit only my own stuff. I don't often shoot things, but every once in a while it happens, and in that case I play with the cut, music.... For example this little project has been at some nice fests this year:

@Ivan fab reels thanks for the share. You gave me an idea to write a script for a character who leads three different lives.

Ivan Doan

Debbie Croysdale happy to hear that :)
