Opinions On A Tv Show I Would Like To Write.

Hi everyone!

My name is Leah and I have always wanted to write a tv show, but I never know of what. Then I thought, why not make something people can relate to. Something people can see and realize they aren't alone.

My goal is to make a coming of age type show called "Driving on". It's about a girl who just got her drivers license and she is navigating her life with terrible self-doubt, and just the feeling that she ruins peoples lives. She uses driving as an escape to get away from those terrible thoughts. At the end of each episode is her driving, but every time is a different senario and feeling.

This is a very big passion project of mine because it is something I can relate too.

I would love any feedback about what you guys think. Thank you!

Kiril Maksimoski

Interesting as it is, but I'd get it going on...say, she is shy, insecure, introvert in outside world but when she drives she's like control master...perfect driver or so...so this gets her into situations etc...get you enough material for episodes...like this it's more of a movie...

There is something here, you could turn into something very special. Maybe have a look at "Ladybird" and see why it works. Also re-watch Fleabag - this is a perfect example of how to turn an outwardly awkward female character.

In order to get better at pitching, and create a more concise logline, maybe have a look at the logline workshops in the services section.

Great idea Leah. You'll get plenty of support here. Having written several pilots myself, I can understand the attraction. Good luck!

It's a start. What is the tone? Funny? Dramatic? Both?

Leah Haddock

Thanks for your comment Howard! The tone is probably a bit of both. Light-hearted and funny moments, but with drama and just the awful life of highschool

Howard Koor

I wish you much luck. Keep at it.

It sounds like a great project, Leah Haddock. I like that she's using driving as an escape.

A show takes a lot of development, so know that before you start outlining it. These websites might help you:
