It was a great session, Thank you Brian Herskowitz for spending your time with us. My question is how much dialogue in a screenplay gets changed over the course of the film-making? Does the writer change it or director/actors/producers do it on their own?

Brian, thanks for your time and experience on the webinar. I'm at the start of my journey having switched from a completely different industry. It's a steep learning curve but very enjoyable. I'm learning so much and am glad to have found Stage32 and the industry experts willing to part with their wisdom.

@Jeelan Syed, there's not a single correct answer for that question. Some films are changed on set and some are exactly as written. For example, Gary Marshall often would have the actors improvise on Pretty Woman.... on the other hand, Aaron Sorkin is infamous for having his script spoken word for word.
Sometimes lines are changed because of an actor messing up, and the filmmakers don't have the time/money to reshoot or fix it. Other times it's simply a feeling that there's a plot hole or a moment that can be better.
Sorry it's not a definitive answer, there really isn't one.
