Introduction and WGA/SAG Negotiations

Hey everyone, Nick Williams (Nick Sowma professionally). Looking forward to jumping in and talking about acting! Today's talk today is about patience, the most essential tool in the actor's belt. I've spoken with two casting directors over the last week and a half who have assured me the ongoing SAG/WGA negotiations are not just a game of chicken. There were only 60 pilots picked up because all players understand that a work stoppage may be eminent. For us, that just means PATIENCE. Don't panic if things seem slow. Sometimes getting a chance to rest and reset is a good thing, even for those of us (like me) who prefer to constantly go at a hundred miles an hour. Now is the time to: work on materials; hammer out that short script that's been rattling around your head; and, most importantly, WORK ON YOUR CRAFT. Get back to the acting gym, stretch those characters, do some improv, be ready so that when the negotiations end (and they will) you are at your absolute best to crush the audition and the part.
