Acting : Who might you suggest to play Lem? by Roberta M Roy

Who might you suggest to play Lem?

As for me, I live in LaLa Land, waiting for the day one of my features or shorts or the the ten episodes of my tele series will be produced. Meantime, I speculate on just who might play what part.

To date, I have come up with Rob Lowe (perfect for the part) to play Lou Matters, Diana Engel to play Mary Matters (She's willing.), John Owen Lowe to play Jason Matters in later episodes, Aiden Arthur to play Marty Matters, and Matt Bohmer (perfect for the part) to play Thaw. Just can't target anyone for the character of Lem, so I was wondering if you might have any suggestions.

Lem is in his fifties, a retired army man who, when the town is overrun by forced migrants, sets up a POD, but what I like about him is that he is peaceful, supportive being that results in his being the character with the largest number scenes while rather than being the main 'character' he is more the main 'facilitator'. Lem's home is used as a gathering place; he is supportive of Thaw the artist and Thaw's relationship with Natalie; the town board plans their meetings at his house; and his sister and Natalie's sister and their children, having fled the area of radioactivity, wind up bunking in at his place and eventually he asks a forced migrant mother of one who of Spanish descent to marry him.

What about David Harbour for Lem, Roberta M Roy?

Roberta M Roy

Nice pick. Liked his portrayal as a surrogate father in stranger things. But would he do it?

Maurice Vaughan

I think he would, Roberta M Roy. Lem's character has some attractive parts: "Retired army man," "peaceful, supportive," "Lem's home is used as a gathering place," "he is supportive of Thaw the artist and Thaw's relationship with Natalie," and "he asks a forced migrant mother of one who of Spanish descent to marry him (I'm guessing he has a romantic subplot)."

Just checked a list of hundred actors somewhere in their fifties: my pick, Jon Hamm (age 53)

Roberta M Roy

Yes. Jon Hamm, with a bit of a scruffy look, might be great! But would he do it?

Jason Mirch

Hey Roberta - it always comes down to the role and the offer. It is that sort of chicken & egg scenario of needing to attach talent to get interest from buyers but buyers want to know who's in it! It's not an easy one to crack but there are ways of doing it. But it sounds like you're on your way to building the package so keep it up!

Rutger Oosterhoff

That will be the problem with all well known actors. Thd answer is probably not.

Roberta M Roy

Just me. In LaLa land. LOL
