Comedy Pitch Fest Today!

"Pssss...Comedy writers, don't tell your fellow drama writers but I adore y'all! You just know how to flip that thang and reverse it on the page with brilliance, humor and swag. I hope to see some of you today during the Comedy Pitch fest and who knows, maybe we’ll be able to work on something together in the near future. The world needs your stories NOW! Nothing can heal, make people feel and think like comedy can. I’m so excited for today—I already have a big ‘ol smile on my face! You know what to do if you want to book time with ya girl. Let’s go!

Hi Whitney,

Your energy is absolutely contagious—I was smiling just reading your post! I’m a huge believer in the power of comedy to heal and connect, and that’s exactly what I’m aiming for with What the Mack?—a heartfelt animated comedy series for the whole family. No anger, no violence, no drugs—just people like Lenny, Glenn, Igor, Mister Bunnyton, and the wonderfully oddball town of Hilford trying to make life work, one laugh at a time.

Unfortunately, I can’t take part in the Comedy Pitch Fest this time due to financial constraints, but I truly hope to be part of the next one. Until then, I’ll keep creating and cheering on the brilliant voices sharing their joy today. Wishing you and all the participants an inspiring, laughter-filled experience!

Hi, Whitney Davis. What's the Comedy Pitch Fest? Is it something you came up with?

Katie Ginger

Hey Whitney, are you looking for romcoms at all?

Jerry L Lane

Reading your introduction gave me something to smile about; I can certainly relate, because I have an endless laughter script.

Vlad Zamfir

Hi Whitney! You are really good at making people put a smile on their faces! Thank you for reminding us that comedy and laughter are also healing and a safe space for others!

Jim Boston

Whitney, I completely and totally agree with you about comedy!

Ever since my first stint at screenwriting and TV writing (1980-94), I've tried to take a Norman Lear-Bud Yorkin approach: They wrote the book (well, I like to think so!) on showing that comedy can work as effectively as drama when it comes to getting people to think.

Glad you're here on Stage 32!
