Your Stage : Documentary film by T.L. Davis

Documentary film

I've been working on a documentary film Deconstruction. We got back from Hungary almost a month ago and have been beset by family health issues, so I haven't been as proactive as I should have been. We're looking for funding (isn't everyone?) and have used most of what we had to get some very cinematic shots of the goings on there. AFM approaches and we have plans for that as well. The biggest need right now, is for a trailer. We had a studio lined up for post that is now unavailable and are scrambling to find another one. We're trying to stay in Texas for that, so it's difficult. Maybe Oklahoma.

IMDb is here. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt37786180

I don't know what I'm asking of this lounge, nothing probably, just sort of cataloging the journey to some degree.

Hi, T.L. Davis. Sorry to hear about the family health issues. I hope your family gets better soon, and I hope you all find funding and another studio!

I’m a Stage 32 Lounge Moderator. I wanted to let you know I moved your post from the Producing Lounge to the Your Stage Lounge. The Your Stage Lounge is a space where members can share updates on projects. If your update mentions a service you used on Stage 32, it's an update for a Stage 32 event, your post starts a conversation that’s helpful/educational to the community (like giving advice or asking a question), or you're asking for feedback on something, you can put it in the Producing Lounge. Let me know if you have any questions.

T.L. Davis

Yes, well, I thought of the producer's lounge as just that, somewhere where producers shared their experiences. I guess I was wrong. If it had been a producer's forum, I might have understood what it was for. I thought the Your Stage Lounge was to promote your work, as in seeking employment. I'm not seeking employment or asking for investments. The part where I mentioned "funding" was in reference to a common problem, not a specific problem. I'm not going to get funding at a site where everyone is looking to get a job, sell a script, etc. Pardon my misconception of the lounge and probably the whole site when I look at it.

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome to post about your experiences in the Producing Lounge, T.L. Davis. It just needs to start a conversation that’s helpful/educational to the community (like giving a tip that other documentary producers can use or giving them a heads-up about something you've experienced) or be one of the other reasons I mentioned in my other comment.

The Your Stage Lounge is for promotion, updates, posts that don't start conversations that are helpful/educational to the community, and non-Stage 32 success stories.

T.L. Davis

Seems awfully narrow, especially from what I have seen there. No one will know if a conversation would have started about AFM (which I thought would happen) or producing in another country (also possible) or dealing with health issues while in production (also possible) but, I've always liked you Maurice and I'll let it go at that.

Maurice Vaughan

I've always liked you too, T.L. Davis. It's a way to make sure members can find and join in on helpful/educational posts in the main Lounges. If you like, you could make a new post in the Producing Lounge saying the same things you said in this post and just add a quick line giving a tip, asking the community to share advice for navigating AFM, sharing something to avoid when making a documentary, etc.
