INT. MAYA’S APARTMENT – NIGHT
Maya writes frantically on a notepad, eyes sharp, obsessed. Lila sits across from her, chewing her lip.
LILA
Why do this? Aren’t you happy?
MAYA
Derek’s gang killed part of me. Now Jake helps me regain control.
LILA
He’s in love… you could convince him to drink bleach.
Maya freezes, smirks, then keeps writing.
MAYA
Sometimes you hurt people to help them.
LILA
That’s wrong.
MAYA
No. Wrong is letting life use you.
A KNOCK on the door. Maya’s whole face shifts — from predator to lover. She beams.
MAYA
Ghost is here.
Jake enters. He looks at her like gravity itself is pulling him closer.
MICKY (behind Jake, muttering)
Nice to see the manipulator has feelings.
MAYA
Shut up, dickhead.
She pulls Jake in, whispers something in his ear. His smile flickers — both scared and addicted.
JAKE (V.O.)
This is when I should’ve walked away. But with Maya… I never did.
