Looking for like-minded, independent professionals
I didn't wait for a New York publisher to validate my bestselling novels before publishing them. Why should I wait for a Hollywood studio to produce them?
Finally, someone who is asking the same questions as me. I'm with you on that one, Charlotte. You do what you need to do to be and stay relevant in this industry. Just like you, I self-published my book "One Hell of a Journey" and I recently launched a brand new magazine that will revolutionize Hollywood. It's called LARA MAGAZINE: www.laramagazineonline.com click on the cover of the magazine for a preview. And since you're a writer, we might need your services at some point in the near future. What kind of writing do you do?
Hi Christian, Your magazine looks interesting. Thanks for sharing the link. I write paranormal romance novels. "Enchantment" and "Taken" are doing great on Amazon, so I thought I'd see if the indie film industry had any interest in the stories.
Hi Jeff, Not sure what you meant by being "delt out." I've had more success after self-pubbing than I ever expected. Good luck with "The Boston Fracture."
Congratulations! I'm not a screenwriter, so I need one that's willing to adapt an existing story. I admire anyone that can cut a novel to the bone without cutting out the heart of the story.
Hi Andy, I doubt that I'll have much influence over cast selection, but keep in touch. The male lead (and his friends) are seventeen to eighteen years old.
Thanks Charlotte. My magazine focuses mainly on romance stories for now. If you ever get inspiration for romance, let me know. We're always looking for great storytellers for our magazine.
Hi Charlotte, I actually specialize in adaptations. I adapted The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde into a stage play and I adapted Shakespeare's mini epic poem Venus and Adonis into a screen play. I'd be happy to e-mail you a copy of my work if your interested. :)
Hi Loralie, I'd love to read your screen play. I'm getting ready for the Decatur Book Fair, so I probably won't be able to get to it until after Labor Day. I'm new to Stage 32. How do we share files? If you'd like to read my book, I'm happy to "gift" a digital copy to you through Amazon. They have exclusive distribution rights so it has to go through them.
oh thank god! I have two scripts I'm finishing now and I wouldn't be able to start a new project until mid September at the earliest anyway. As far as I know we can't share files, but you can send me a private message with your e-mail in it. I should probably send you both my play and the screenplay, because Venus and Adonis is a poem, mind you it's a very good script, but Jekyll and Hyde will give you a better idea of what I can do with a novel.
I think quite a few people have self published their work. I know with my book Wishing On An Irish Star, which is also on Amazon. Kindle as well! I was tired of dealing with publishers, so I decided to publish my book with Create Space, which is through Amazon. My book is a rock and roll romance, and I have had awesome reviews! I have a 10 page screenplay already written for this, but I honestly don't have the time to work on it. I have a regular job, and 3 other books in the works! The books that I have now can be easily adapted into a screenplay, or continued from where I left off with the 10 page screenplays. Eventually I will finish everything! Charlotte just to let you know, you might be able to have a word or two in when it comes to character description or influence. That person is called a Creative Consultant, and sometimes they can be a real asset for the company that is casting your characters! Best of luck to everyone! :)
