I've shot on the Canon 7D for a couple years now, and it's been great! I do recommend that the 60D is probably a better investment though, IF you are only concerned with taking video. The Canon 5D mk iii is also beautiful, as well as the Nikon D800. Also, for rigs, look into indiesystem.com They have great, affordable stuff there specifically intended for DSLR shooting. Wooden Camera is my next recommendation because their rigs are highly customizable and versatile. Lastly, remember that a big part of what makes DLSR footage so great is the lens selection. Get yourself some really nice lenses or else you're not taking full advantage.
