Pitch Packets

Can we all talk about Pitch Packets? I am in development with a few projects that could either use some "seed" money to get things rolling or funding to get them filmed and edited. Have you ever had experience with Pitch Packets? If so, what should be present in them? Thanks!

Just trying to get some conversation going revolving pitch packets. I feel I have a good head start on the packets themselves, I just want to hear other people's past experiences with them and what worked and didn't work.

Biz plan definitely a must-have. Especially a concise synopsis, which is probably all any investors are going to read. The hardest and most time-consuming part is trying to get bankable talent attached. It's a chicken and egg thing, as the old saying goes nobody knows you when you're down and out, yet you can't get the investment and distribution without the talent. I like to keep trying from both directions, trying to find production help for my lower budget indie stuff while shopping my big tentpoles to known talent.

^^^Also, since I'm new at this, I found researching the business plan really helpful for learning the lay of the land and getting a look at the cold, hard facts of reality.

For my TV series I did complete Bibles and first year episode guides. With TV I would also want a line producer to break down the budget, since I couldn't even begin to guess what a TV production budget is.

I have a business/marketing plan laid out, budget set, a trailer for the shoot since we filmed one episode, and we are creating a beautiful presentation with loglines and whatnot for each episode. Business plan revolves around the web for season one with hopes of branching into a feature length movie or a major network deal. BBC was interested in the scripts we wrote, but we would obviously have to cater our show to a british market. We are planning on filming 5 episodes. Our budget includes pre-production, principle photography, post production, and marketing/advertisement for the show.
