Introduce Yourself : Hello everyone. by Christian D Chapra

I began my journey as a filmmaker in Boulder Colorado, almost 25 years ago. I became a classic movie fan, which led to my attending the University of Colorado at Boulder's film school. 14 years would pass before I completed my training; a combination of bad luck, bad finances, and bad parents. Anyhoo, I found my second chance in the unlikely city of Waltham, Massachusetts. I completed my technical training last June. We were encouraged to focus on one aspect of filmmaking. While I love them all, my obvious strength, according to my professors, fellow students, and wife, is screenwriting. One of those professors asked me, "Do you love what you're doing?" I must confess that I needed a moment to come up with my unusual answer. "No. Love is the wrong word. I feel useful. I feel like I am doing what I was put on this Earth to do." I have a feature length script kicking around in LA, and New York. I am collaborating with my wife on an historical script. I am also trying to write a new short script, whose subject I stumbled upon today. I am open to all approaches for narrative, and documentary filmmaking. One day I hope to earn a living at it; at present, I am free to devote myself to writing full-time.
