I am a Music artist/Songwriter/Novelist (See my Stage 32 homepage and/or [www.markbrine.com).][1]. w/ a screenplay (already written by someone else) for a novel I've written (published...see http://www.amazon.com/BOOK-ODES-Factory-Boy/dp/0615625657) that is a sort-of- "October Sky" story, mixed w/ "The Yearling".. and a touching 'Coming of Age' story (Very musically based, 'Dickens-ish'- dark and sensitive) .. that takes place in the 60's.. in Cambridge, Mass.. where the main character (Nate) is working in Printing Factories and dreaming of, one day, becoming like his life-long hero, Hank Williams, Sr. .. He is writing songs, etc.. and playing in Garage-type rock bands (too shy to become the front 'singer', rather hiding behind his guitar and the band!)..and, all the while, his friend (Willie) is pushing him to become a soloist 'folk singer'. This takes place in Cambridge (A Folk Music Capitol, during the 'Folk Music Boom') approx.1966-1968.. and, liewise, during The 'Summer of Love', etc. (and is 'Rock music'-based too!) Willie is a poet with a bit of a dark side (very dramatic & overly melancoholy).. suffering from the earlier traumatic loss of his mother.. and they are supporting ea. (emotionally) through these tough, late-teen years. There is also a juxtaposing 'Father & Son' story going-on here-in, that ultimately reveals what a 'true hero' is! This tale involves Drug scenes and a very possible teen suicide (Though, it is NOT an endorsement of either!..Totally the opposite!).. And I can only hope for a 'mature minded' producer/co. that will execute its proper message!
