Hi Andrew Im sorry mailing out…

Hi Andrew Im sorry mailing out of the blue but from your short biog it looks like you might be someone good to ask. I've been pushing prams for the last 4 years and so just getting back into shooting and think that I'm going to have to branch out alone rather than get back into the rat race of commercial tv. I need to get a camera but the last thing I shot on was a Z1. Before I invest in a new camera or 2nd hand for that matter, I need to know what I should be looking at. I think i'll probably be shooting for internet so does that mean I should get a tapeless cam or HD? What are people in industry using these days? Sorry to take up your time, but if you've got a couple of suggestions of where I should start looking that would be great. Thanks Graciela

No probs Graciela, I'm on here to make contacts and talk. My immediate thought would be that you buy a video capable DSLR. However it very much depends on what you're looking to spend. There are other more expensive cameras like the AF101 which will give you proffesional audio inputs, but for about £1000 you could get yourself a 550d/600d and a zoom audio recorder. Andy

Checked out your video. Impressive depth of field! Im worried about how I'd feel filming on something which I don't support with my shoulder. Is that how they're used or do you get some kind of shoulder brace? I'm just thinking for those situations when you're filming actuality over long periods of time. I trained using DSR's so this would seem really weird.

Your best bet is to get a shoulder rig if you plan to use one handheld. eBay is a good place to look.
