Basic Principles of Screenwriting

What would the professionals advise as the Basic Principles of Screenwriting? I know a few such as: - Read more and more - The more you read, try as much as possible to write down something new everyday - Share Ideas with others you think are "dumb" - Pay keen attention to things around you, at any where you go - always carry along with you "writing apparatus" (those are the main tools of every screenwriter; a pen & something to write on, or simply get a smart device with "qwerty" keys) etc... I know there are more and more, lets come together and put all under this discussion.

Levi Isaacs

Try deleting lines, even if they are your favorite. Introduce characters by reveal something about them. Don’t spend more time making mp3 playlists for the project than actually writing the project.

Lucinda Marty

Character, character and character.. great characters carry the story and give you more story because of what they do, who they are etc
