She is also the Artistic Director of Epsilon Productions. Their most recent production Skin Tight by Gary Henderson was part of the Opening season of PARK Theatre and was 5 star sell out success. Jemma has run actors’ workshops exploring the classics, audition techniques and trusting the actors impulse, in conjunction with various charities, groups, schools and venues including the New Players Theatre, TRANSMISSION, Identity Drama School, The Actors Centre, Cygnet New Theatre Exeter, Arts Ed, Drama Centre London and the Ripley Grier Studios, New York. EPSILON PRODUCTIONS (www.epsilonproductions.co.uk) will be producing Anna Jordan’s (2013 winner Bruntwood Playwriting Prize) play Chicken Shop (Working Title) in 2014. Come meet us & celebrate this (and Xmas) at our Teenage Dirtbag Christmas Party on December 10th at The Mucky Pup in Angel. WORKSHOP /// UNDER-READING & EMOTIONAL RELEASE… WHAT’S THAT THEN? Under-reading (where actors are given their lines by their colleagues in the room) frees the actor from the constraints of holding a script as they work so they can keep focus, eye contact and connection with their partner. This immediate response and reaction technique between actors encourages intense movement and fight work to be explored organically alongside exploration of text, sound scape and light. We will be looking at the use of under-reading in a rehearsal room for monologues, duologues and large scenes. Jemma will bring in some texts but encourages participants to bring in any monologues or scenes that they are preparing (or want to be working on!). Using Emotional release work we will then start to look at natural defences that actors hold onto and try some physical exercises to push past the body and mind’s natural need to fight, fly or freeze. Wear comfy clothing and be prepared to work! Jemma’s production of Skin Tight was rehearsed entirely using under-reading and emotional release techniques.
