Mike Milton

Richard "RB" Botto

You never cease to amaze.

Heather Hale

Well RB ;-) you know how much more there is to every story... ;-)

Richard "RB" Botto

I certainly do...

Heather Hale

The stories behind the scenes are seemingly always so much more dramatic! Here's to our getting to work on LOTS of projects in the NEAR future where all the drama is reserved for the screen! ;-) And we all have a fun time with good friends making projects we're really proud of! We're getting there! ;-)

Ezekiel Mutasa

Beautiful! Best of luck. What did you shoot this on? Wonderful trailer

Heather Hale

Ezekiel - we shot on 2 Red Ones. ;-) Back when they were the next big thing! ;-)

Ezekiel Mutasa

Heather Hale

Thanks Dianne! ;-)

Geof Spalding

Good luck at Cannes

Greg Rempel

Looks good, Heather. Best of luck.

Franklin Sollars

Congratulations Heather. You are an inspiration.

William Philip Zacchi

Hey Heather, How interesting. I've written a screenplay called Blood Justice that deals with an eighteen year old, Nicky Palmenti going through an inner ordeal whether to kill the man who killed his father; A Captain in the Gambino family. You give me hope. The American public can't get enough mafia yearns. Good luck!!

Graham Giddy

Good luck as I see you are heading in the right direction, who knows what I will do when I script the Golden Malaita Eagle or my latest project. Maybe Heather Hale is a name to remember.

Michale Hess

Graham Giddy, you might be right. Heather Hale is going places.

William Philip Zacchi

Hey Mike, I think your right. She gives me inspiration especially in the light that my screenplay is sort of like her genre.; a mob story that is based on my own life.

Heather Hale

Thanks Geof and Franklin! ;-) Yes, Graham and William ;-) there is always a place for mob/mafia stories...whether Italian or not ;-) the Yakuza, etc. We tweaked our Italian mob family to be a deep South crime family (drugs, prostitution rings, gun running, etc.) William, I went to school with some of the West Coast Bonnanos ;-) Thank you all for the votes of confidence! ;-)

Lauren Hakulinen

Hi Heather, I'm an American living in France. I'll be in Cannes - can you let me know when & where your film will be showing? Congrats!

Heather Hale

Lori - it's not in competition, it'll be at the market, repped by TricCoast Worldwide. As soon as I find out if they're doing public screenings, I'll share that info! ;-)

William Philip Zacchi

Wow!!! Heather!! The Cannes!!!Man, oh, man you must be a true hustler. Please. Could you give me some advice. I've been away ffrom the entertainment world for almost thirty years, so I'm a little lost right now as to the next step. My screenplay is also a little along the lines of a mafia yarn. If you were me what would be your next step?? Appreciate any advice you can give me. Billy Z.

Marilyn Du Toit

I liked that trailer alot. Very good,so whats the next project?

Heather Hale

Thanks, Marilyn! I've got a lot of irons in the fire. As always...looking for financing! ;-) I have a big race thriller, a bunch of TV stuff - both scripted and reality - a book coming out..always looking for directing opportunities...and of course writing the next big spec! ;-) What're you working on?

Marilyn Du Toit

At the moment a ebook fantasy or supernatural action. But I have a book filled with ideas in all different Genre's just not enough time to make any into anything.

William Philip Zacchi

Heather, I just watched the trailer - QUITE GOOD! My screenplay deals with the Mafia in a much low key way. It's more of a coming of age story of an eighteen year old kid who kills a Captain in the Gambino crime family.(the man who killed his father), and deals internally, and externally with the consequences. I need your opinion. I read in this book on how to pitch. It recommenced that I should tell I came up with this story? The truth is; on June, 1970, I stood three feet away from the man who actually killed my father; under mob sanction that I could kill him, then go on the lam, but I backed out. I blamed booze; that I was too drunk to do it., and for many years I wouldn't let myself live that down that I didn't Honor my father. So my screenplay deals with what would have happened to me if I did kill the guy. What's your take?? If I was standing in a room of Producer's you think I should tell them how I came up with the story?

Heather Hale

Marilyn, an ebook is great. Are you doing Lightning Source?

William Philip Zacchi

Hey Heather, It's that pain in the ass again - Bill Zacchi. I see that you posted that you're looking for Directing assignments. Is that with movies only, or the theater? I have a screenplay finished if you'd like to read it, and two full length plays. The one play, Shepsel An' The Barracuda I worked with a highly esteemed script consultant with(also on the screenplay). The play is a winner if I say so myself. Any help you can give me will come back to you ten fold by God. I'm looking for a New York Producer, or Director for the play. Any suggestions?? I promise. I won't send anymore comments, but your trailer really got me going! Again - GOOD WORK!

Heather Hale

Hey Bill ;-) You're not a pain in the arse! ;-) I am absolutely open to any directing opportunities - any at all - but I'm not looking for "opportunities" ;-) to raise money :-) (understandably as we all have all our own projects we're speculatively looking for production funds for and our resources are all precious). So, if your movie or play were financed ;-) I'd LOVe to come on board. If you have your own personal investor leads to pitch your project to, with me attached, I'd be more than willing to help you prepare and make the investor presentation. ;-) So...assignments, yes. ;-) Working for free? Plate is full. ;-) I'm so glad the trailer got you going! I'd LOVE to work with you on something!!! ;-)

Marilyn Du Toit

Hi Heather, I have placed the ebook on Foboko, it is done for free but I do have to pay for my own ISBN number and something called adsense from GOOGle, but that will only be after I have finished writing it and cleaning it up,it has to be great before I will dare put a ISBN number on it.

William Philip Zacchi

Hey Heather, In my old neighborhood of East Harlem everyone has a nickname. I came up with a good one for,"The Hustler" because you seem on the money. LOG LINE: An eighteen teen year old boy must make the ultimate decision that'll change his life forever; does he kill the man who killed his father; a Captain in the Gambino crime family, and suffer the consequences. If you'd like to read it; I'd love for you too. Having such a spark fire like you on my team can only help. The main thing I need any help you can give me, concerns my play, "Shepsel An' The Barracuda." I truly believe I have something special. I'm looking for a New York Producer, or Director located in N.Y.C.. Even if I have to start with Off Off Broadway for no pay; I could live with that becauseI believe the play will open up many avenues for me. My dream is to play the part of the Barracuda myself. If you know of anyone in the city that could help me; I would be most graciously thankful. If you'd like to read that, the play before you recommend it to anyone; I totally understand. One other thing I posted something very personal on your timeline that I hope I don't regret. I would love to trade emails address with you. zakwheat@yahoo.com

Heather Hale

Marilyn - You're 1,000% right about getting it perfect before it goes out to the world! ;-) You only get one chance to make a first impression! ;-) "Google AdSense is a program run by Google that allows publishers in the Google Network of content sites to serve automatic text, image, video, or interactive media advertisements that are targeted to site content and audience. These advertisements are administered, sorted, and maintained by Google, and they can generate revenue on either a per-click or per-impression basis." GOOD LUCK WITH IT! ;-) Let us know when it's ready for the world! ;-)

Marilyn Du Toit

Will do, it is titled Vigil.

Heather Hale

Will - I almost went to Columbia ;-) but when my mom and dad got out of the taxi cab and looked around at Harlem - and their 17 year old girl ;-) they were like: "Oh hell no..." LOL! ;-) Great school. I'm sure a wildly colorful place to go to college or grow up! I do know some great Broadway Producers ;-) but few of them would be interested in no pay or Off Off (off?) Broadway. ;-) I know a ton of Directors (even me ;-) but it's a Herculean effort to launch a play ANYWAY ;-) much less with no money. If you want to play the lead...in your play...do you have any friends or acquaintances that could fund the run? Not to mention, a lot of Broadway is first tested here in La Jolla or Palm Springs...work out the kinks on the Left Coast before dipping a toe in those speedy review waters. In our film, our lead (Edward Furlong)'s dad was in the mafia, too - and he was killed - and the kid grew up raised truly IN the heart of the crime family, with the Mob Boss (Ed Asner) as his surrogate/step father, so similar premises. ;-) Like I said, I'm interested in any and all opportunities to get into production (even of a play ;-) I just can't possibly raise money for one more project! LOL! ;-) But, like I said...if you have resources within your community - I could attach as the Director/Producer and help you pitch to your people to raise money for your film or play - with or without you starring. ;-) Or...I can be hired as a consultant to help you perfect the script, biz plan, pitch package - or suss out who the buyers/financiers/distributors/Actors/Directors/Producers MIGHT be - and develop strategies to get to them. My direct e-mail is Heather@HeatherHale.com. It's a long journey for all of the projects. Is't funny, when I started in the business, trying to sell a spec to a studio, it seemed so much easier to just go produce the damn thing myself. ;-) Now that I've done that? LOL! :-) Selling to a studio seems SO MUCH EASIER! :-) Authors always think selling a script is an easier path to making their book a best seller. Screenwriters always think getting a book published is an easier path to getting their movie made. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence - but that just means we have to water our own grass more! ;-)

Diana Murdock

Exciting video, Heather! Very compelling.

Heather Hale

Thank you, Diana! ;-)

Matt Cates

Looks good!

Victoria Girmonde

Congrats!

Marilyn Du Toit

Heather what about producers making movies in South Africa, with the exchange rate the costs would be lower, A -List clients from America can come and work with actors here. We have talented people that mostly end up going overseas, like Charlize Theron.

William Philip Zacchi

Marilyn, I've been following Heather since the very first moment I joined Stage 32. She has sort of become my divine inspiration. I have a screenplay, and two full length plays completed, and am more than half way through my next screenplay. How can we help each other? zakwheat@yahoo.com I would love to network with you.

Victoria Girmonde

Hi Will, I took a class taught by Heather. It was really good. She teaches sometimes at Screenwriting U.

Heather Hale

Thanks Victoria! ;-)

Heather Hale

Thanks Matt! ;-) Marilyn - movies are being made all over the world now. It's like the Hollywood Diaspora! ;-) (Thanks to tax credits and incentives, etc.). The challenge is the talent - cast and crew - end up like roving gypsies following the gov't kickbacks ;-/ and its hard to create a sense of community. Which is why places like Stage 32 are great - we can foster non-linear, non-geographically-specific relationships - and then, hopefully, go where the best deal is - or the most epic views. ;-) Additionally, hopefully, teams of creatives will create pockets of talent where we can be turnkey together - and build that sense of community - wherever we may travel - or whatever you can attract to your local. (Enter all the local film commissions' jobs! ;-) Africa is beautiful. There are all sorts of film festivals and other developing events and entities. I hope to come to one soon! ;-) Its an exciting, burgeoning time to be there and I'm sure you'll find all sorts of opportunities open up. But remember ;-) Luck = Preparation + Opportunity (so make sure you do the work so you're ready when the ships come in! ;)

Marilyn Du Toit

Hi Will I recognised her name but only now pinned it to Screenwriting U , their courses are great and I wished after the last free teleconference/webinar thing that I had the funds to do the course they offered. It really sounded good. I don't mind sharing screenplays just at the moment I am fixing mine up still, but you are more than welcome to bounce some off me. I promise to give feedback that is positive and negative and constructive and not nasty. But honest. My email is monroe2@absamail.co.za

Heather Hale

Hey Marilyn, Victoria - there's actually (confusingly) two Screenwriting Universities. The one I teach at is the Writer's Store/Script Magazine's/F&W Media's: http://www.screenwritersuniversity.com/course-instructors/heather-hale. At the moment, I teach two classes: Writing a Spec for TV (http://www.screenwritersuniversity.com/screenwriting-online-courses/writ...) and Generating Ideas for Features (http://www.screenwritersuniversity.com/screenwriting-online-courses/gene...).

Debbie Elicksen

I can see why, Heather. Great trailer. If this were on PayTV right now, we'd be watching it here.

Heather Hale

Yay, Debbie! Thank you! I will most certainly let everyone know when it IS on Pay Per View (or wherever!) ;-) THANK YOU! ;-)

Franklin Sollars

Thank you for the little tips Heather. I'll bet they are not so little in the end. Franklin

Franklin Sollars

The trailer got me. I want to see the movie.

Danny Alegi

congrats, watching the trailer now. I was in Cannes in 1995 as an actor, AD with the Italian underdog award-winning pic "Nella Mischia" by Gianni Zanasi (Italy). May the Croisette bring you great fortune too!

Heather Hale

Thanks Franklin and Danny! ;-)

William Philip Zacchi

Way to go, Heather! That producer I mentioned you to concerning Blood Justice knows about your movie. He had nothing, but praise for you. Be in touch. I still dream of working with you, MISS HUSTLER~!

Heather Hale

Thanks WIlliam! Oh! Who is the Producer? That's so sweet! Thank you! ;-) I'd LOVE to work with you, too! That'd be great! ;-)

William Philip Zacchi

Hey Heather!!! The producers name is Brian Vaughn. His production company is Spirit Rider productions. When I mentioned you to Brian he seemed to be somewhat familiar with your work. I don't remember the exact film he mentioned concerning you. Was it Absolute Killers? All I know is he told me to tell you to contact him. Just possibly he's going to film the New York scenes here, and ya never know; maybe he'd want you to direct it in the states. His company is located in Australia. Here's his email, and we'll just leave it in Gods hands as to how you could be part of the production team spiritriderprod@hotmail.com

Heather Hale

Cool, William! :-) I taught a weeklong retreat in Australia a couple years back and was on the Spiritual Cinema Cruise with Stephen Simon, so I wonder if we met at either of those places? He's also a Western fan and my grandpa was a Western Cowboy star ;-) I'll connect with him. Thank you! Fingers crossed! ;-)

Betty Sullivan

Congratulations Heather!

Heather Hale

Thanks Betty!
