Screenwriting : New to the group - salutations by Dean Naegel

I tried to get a discussion going on another site regarding Why we write - is if for the love of it, or for the monetary gain? For me, I'd love to make money doing what I've always dreamed of doing. Any response? Why do you write?

Welcome!! I write because if I didn't these ideas would drive me mad. I think I'd love to make a boatload of money-- we all would, but I don't think I'd be able to bear the agony just for that. I just really love it! I love putting a story together. I love the idea of people maybe one day seeing this on a screen and feeling what I felt writing it or being touched by the story/characters. I love going on that journey with them. I love having a finished product and being able to say that I did that. It's all about the love for me! Good luck and keep writing :)
