Yes. My name is William Philip Zacchi. My problem is; I love to write. I put in no less than four to five hours a day to writing. In the last eighteen months I've written two full length plays, a screenplay, and the first draft of another screenplay. On all my projects I worked with a prestigious script consultant. Where I go wrong is in the marketing part of the business. I'm only now beginning to understand it a little. It seems anyone who's read my work has loved my scripts. How do I go about finding a theater director to just read my plays, and a producer to read my screenplays?
Hi William. I much prefer writing to marketing but you have to do it to establish your credibilty and get the word out. Contests, pitch fests, social networking, online sites like InkTip and Virtual Pitch Fest, query letters to small producers, who accept them, cold calls to producers, managers and agents, etc. Put as much energy into it as into writing -- and good luck!
Thanks Mary for the insight. Yes! You're right! There's a lot more I can do than just moan about how hard the marketing part is. The idea you gave me about pitch fest - I like that! Be in touch. I like your attitude - direct, and to the point! Thanks!
I would definitely suggest contacting Joey at the Stage 32 Happy Writers. He'd certainly guide you in the right direction - joey@stage32.com - Good luck!
