Who is producing mystery/crime films?

As I'm looking for production companies to read my script, I noticed how few groups are doing detective/mystery/crime.. Does anyone know where I can find them OR any you are familiar with? Thanks..

Blockbuster research (more difficult now that Blockbuster is gone). Find recent successful movies like yours, find out the production companies that made them. Without Blockbuster, you might try using Amazon and Netflix's suggestions for similar films.

Thanks William.. I did do some of that.. guess there's a lack of detective movies lately

Detectives end up on TV (cop shows, Sherlock Holmes updates, etc.) One reason is because a detective story has no real stakes: the victim is already dead, they aren't going to become more dead. Which is why when you see detectives in films, they are usually chasing serial killers (to prevent them from killing again). The other detectives on film are in high concept stories like MINORITY REPORT (which is actually a man on the run thriller) and SOURCE CODE (which features a time loop and the "detective" must find the mad bomber before his second bomb goes off). Mysteries are my home genre, and like Elmore Leonard did when the western novel died and he just did HIGH NOON IN DETROIT (cop novel); I've written my mysteries as big action scripts, high concept thrillers, and the occasional sci fi action flick. By the way, the first thing that usually gets cut once the script sells is the mystery!

That's great info.. thanks.. so my first screenplay is a detective/mystery with a stolen diamond and several murders.. any suggestions on where to send it? (you can see it on my profile page) I'd love to take a look at your stuff.
