Very different. And well needed. Rock It. Tommy
The more radio drama there is out there, the better! One tip I got from a writing for radio class recently: Conflict - the engine of drama in any story - BUT it makes for shouty and unpleasant radio listening. The more buried it is the more interesting the tension becomes... 'and if you bury it, you can dig it up later for a better climax'.
Radio is also a brilliant medium for exceptional special effects and expensive locations all for free in your listeners' imaginations: perfect for sci fi. Ever considered radio adaptations of Ian M Banks?
