Recommended Screenwriting Educational Resources

I have been through more books, webinars, online classes, websites, magazine articles, etc. than I can count, in an effort to learn the craft of screenwriting starting from Square 0. This is a whole new world for me. There are 2 resources that have created an inflection point in my development as a screenwriter. All educational resources for screenwriting tell you what you need to do, but these 2 resources tell you how, which is what I need. 1. "Writing for Emotional Impact" by Karl Iglesias. This book provides detailed descriptions of well crafted writing for a screenplay from dialog to descriptions to action, etc. If I can apply what I learned from this book, my writing will dramatically improve. $20 on Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/Writing-Emotional-Impact-Techniques-Fascinate/dp/1... 2. Mega Course Tutorials at http://www.reelwriting.com/ - This is a more costly resource, but you can usually get a discount if you sit in on one of the free webinars which is what I did. This is a set of 45 videos of about 15 hours in total that provide detailed tutorials on how to structure a screenplay. If you do not use this structure, your screenplay will likely fail. These tutorials are a Master Class. They are not for the faint of heart or anyone who is looking for a quick solution. However if you are willing to devote the $, time, effort and brainpower to listening to and absorbing these videos, you will know everything you need to know about developing a screenplay. The course also has a software package called Plot Control that you can use to apply what you learned in the Mega Course to create the structure of your screenplay. "Structure" in this case includes the usual flow of the screenplay (Set up -> Inciting Incident -> etc.) as well as the "Core Elements" which include the Protagonist, Theme, Primary Obstacle, etc. It's the soup-to-nuts of what you need to do and how to do it for structuring a screenplay. After struggling with the structure of my screenplay for 8 months, I finally know how to do it after going through these videos. Good Luck and Good Writing, Kellie
