I'm writing a book for Focal Press and would love to interview any indie producers who are willing to share their experiences at any of the film or TV markets (AFM, NATPE, Cannes, Toronto, Berlin, MIPCOM, MIPTV, RealScreen, etc.). Also - if you have questions - even if you think they are naive or ignorant (you'd be amazed how much people don't understand about the markets) - so feel free to ask them. Heather – I think you must define ‘successful’ first. I’m an old, retired writer/producer in the indie short film festival circuit now - I’m not driven by the money. I’m more interested in ‘paying it forward’ by inviting filmmaker wannabes to participate in the on-set moviemaking process and I promote them when and wherever I can. Sometimes it’s awfully dispiriting but I keep on keepin’ on. I’ve managed to produce a couple and I’ve got some scripts in production/post by some more established indie production companies.
