Filmmaking / Directing : Talent Agents for Independent Filmmakers by Katherine Blakeney

I am an independent filmmaker and stop motion animator and I would really appreciate some advice on talent agents and/or managers. I've encountered this in the publishing world, where there is a very straightforward path available if you are looking for representation (i.e. you write a book, put together a query letter and synopsis and send them out along with sample pages to agents who are interested in your genre). Is there anything similar for filmmakers? I have a collection of independent short films I've made, some commissioned work and music videos I've done for various companies, several contest wins, festival screenings, etc. Are there talent agencies specifically targeted at animators and/or filmmakers where I could send samples of my work and my CV so they would help me connect with distribution companies for my shorts, send my films to festivals or help me find freelance jobs in the same way a literary agent can find publishers for a novel?
