About Amy

Amy Drake wrote her first play at age five. She is a writer, director, television and stage actor, conference speaker, author, and poet. Appeared in the Emmy award-winning episode of COLUMBUS NEIGHBORHOODS: CLINTONVILLE. Winner of the Silver Quill of Excellence in web writing from the International Association of Business Communicators. Over a dozen of her plays have been performed in various US festivals. EYES LIKE OPAQUE GEMS, won Most Popular Play in the MITF Short Play Lab and her short play, MODEL BEHAVIOR, toured the U.S. with the Little Black Dress Festival. She specializes in period pieces. Member of the Dramatists Guild of America, Board member of the International Centre for Women Playwrights, and a member of the Gustav Mahler Society of New York. Amy holds a M.A. in liberal studies/English degree from Ohio Dominican University and a M.S. degree in marketing and communication from Franklin University. Her education includes programs at Yale University, Cambridge University, graduate studies at Reed Hall, Paris and playwriting at the Kenyon (College) Summer Institute. Amy resides in Ohio with her husband, cats, and rabbits.
