SYNOPSIS:

From the moment it happened, there’s been doubt. Doubt whether Hailey Barnes could have really pushed her childhood friend Elizabeth to her death twenty years ago. The sad truth is, even Hailey herself doesn’t know if she did it. All her childhood memories were wiped out by a magic potion her father gave her. He was just hoping it would calm her from the trauma. Since then, Hailey’s life has been nothing but depression, anxiety, accusations and a nightmare that haunts her almost every night. Diagnosed with retrograde amnesia, it’s caused her eternal mental pain and no answer to the question of whether she could just be crazy after all. With the death of her father and the family business in disrepair, she ventures Westward to the place where it all happened. Where she lived and where Elizabeth died. Where her father operated a highway roadside attraction, “The Strange Kingdom,” a collection of sideshow exhibits and bizarre oddities. It’s beckoned so many tourists it was named the 17th most popular roadside attraction in America. Off mile marker 317, under the relentless Arizona sun, a huge black and yellow sign directs visitors to the hodge-podge of buildings. They are home to treasures like a disturbing audience of frightening dolls, a huge clown marionette perpetually laughing inside a maze of mirrors, a chilling room of snakes and spider webs, a space alien, an authentic looking Indian wigwam and a magic wishing well. They’re all centered around a souvenir store that sells everything from rubber creatures to magic potions. Almost immediately, Hailey can feel Elizabeth’s presence. She knows this is where she needs to be. Where the truth will reveal itself and where she can be closer to the spirit of her late father. Going against her mother’s warning that “some things are better left un-figured,” Hailey decides to repair and reopen The Strange Kingdom, much to the disbelief of the locals. Adam operates the gas station that’s part of the complex. His sister Claire, exiled to her brother’s to keep her apart from her boyfriend, help ready the place for a grand reopening. Meanwhile, an ancient looking medicine man, Talon Kaine, appears selling his strangely packaged magic. Kaine seems to know all about the murder, offering Hailey a specially made potion so she can finely see the truth. As The Strange Kingdom reopens, stranger things begin to happen. Inanimate creatures channel Elizabeth’s haunted spirit. A handful of locals plan their own kind of punishment for the girl they feel escaped justice. Then, Hailey’s psychedelic journey with the truth potion leaves her unresolved to believe in what she saw. Concocting her own special mixture of magic, Hailey sees who was really behind Elizabeth’s death. But before she can rest, a terror is released to come end her life. With everything on the line, Hailey struggles to save her self while the Kingdom around her goes up in flames and her only hope for survival comes from the mystical allies who’ve always terrified her.
