By day, I am the creative director at a bustling advertising agency in Chicago. Been writing and guiding writers, art directors and videographers for many years. My work with a variety of brands has allowed me to create more TV commercials than I can count. I absolutely love the production process. Highly structured, chaotic and collaborative.
A while back I got the itch to stretch beyond the confines of thirty-seconds and began playing around with characters and scenes. Mostly comedy. I entered a ten-minute scene contest through a local stage writer's group. My scene was a finalist and was even showcased at Second City. From there, I set out to climb the metaphorical mountain of writing for film.
To date, I have clacked out a short film, a full-length feature script, a TV pilot and a stage play. My work schedule (and perfectionist tendencies) hold me back a bit. Hopefully, I won't have to wait to retire from the ad world to crank out more, better and funnier for the big screen.
Time will tell.
Cheers.
